National Trails Day

Despite the snow that has many trails in the back country well hidden for a few more weeks, National Trails Day is this Saturday, June 1st. Founded by the American Hiking Society, this day marks an important day for me and many others who work each year to maintain our trail system.

Here in Summit County there are well over 400 miles of trails that accommodate day hikers, backpackers, hunters and mountain bikers. Heavily utilized and sometimes under appreciated for the health and economy that the trail system provides, it needs our help.

That is why I would like to invite you to participate in a trail project on June 8th with Friends of the Dillon Ranger District, a highly valued land and water leader here in Summit County.

It will be a great day working with others who value our land and its trail system for all that it offers.
